There’s no doubt that there can be a summer sales slump. We’ve all been there. So what can leaders and sales teams do to combat the slump? Glad you asked!
Here are some of our favorite tips for turning your sales momentum into outcomes while beating the summer sales slump:
1. Invest in Yourself:
1. Invest in Yourself:
Summer slumps are a great time to invest in yourself to learn new solutions and skills. Are you wanting to be more business-relevant? Do you know all parts of your customer’s organization, or are there personas and conversations that you could hone during this time? We offer courses such as Sales Relevance in the C-Suite and Technical Communication to hone these skills. Other free resources we love are:
- Charisma On Command for learning those high EQ, soft skills.
- 60 Seconds Transformation series to learn about some of the latest technology from a solution, business-relevance lens.
2. Network for Fun:
2. Network for Fun:
No surprise, sales is about relationships. And fortunately, summer is for fun. Combine the two, and you could have one fun cocktail! Customers are looking for fun ways to get out and network over the summer, which is a prime opportunity to gain deeper relationships and have some fun while you’re doing it. Need some ideas? Consider hosting customers at a baseball game or taking them out on the water. These types of events that are targeted at strengthening relationships gives you time to better understand their needs while meeting new personas at your established customer. Win win!
3. Prepare for Expansion Opportunities:
3. Prepare for Expansion Opportunities:
Sometimes (OK, who are we kidding, most of the time) we are moving so fast that we don’t allow time for thorough analysis and planning out our execution. While your customers are out, use the time to prepare for next quarter. What relationships do you need to gain? What information are you lacking to close that next big expansion sale? Use this time to plan and be strategic about where you need to build to hit next quarter’s quota. By doing so, this allows you to reenergize and be fully prepared. Not only are there professional and mental health benefits to this, but neuroscience dictates that you’ll think more clearly when you do it this way!
